Listen Value Invest launches in the North East!

The Listen Value Invest campaign is gathering momentum, and has just been launched in the North East by Voluntary Organisations' Network North East (VONNE).

Jo Curry, VONNE CEO, has written to all of the parliamentary candidates fighting seats in the North East encouraging them to "Listen Value and Invest" in individuals, communities and the third sector in the North East.

She said: “It is important that our partners value the role and voice of the third sector. In recent years we have seen the sector engaged in LSPs, Area Action Partnerships and regional task groups, however, the seat at the table is not enough; engaging the sector at all stages of policy development through to implementation is vital.

“Finally we need to secure a commitment to invest in the sector. It is time we all changed our language and talked consistently of investment: investment in the third sector; investment in our communities and investment in the people of the North East.”

Jo called upon the sector to rediscover its voice: “Whilst the focus recently has been on the sector delivering public services – we have a role in speaking up for those seldom heard, empowering people and communities and in championing progressive social policies.”
